Join us! Starting January 8th, Arvada Christian is going on a journey to discover what we believe and the life we should live as a result. The Bible is the most amazing story ever told, but it is a story that demands a response. It teaches us that the goal of the Christian life is to become like Jesus--for our own personal growth and for the sake of others. Every believer needs to ask three big questions: What do I believe? What should I do? Who am I becoming? In 2017 we will spend 30 weeks unpacking ten key beliefs, ten key practices and ten key virtues that help us to think, act, and become more like Jesus Christ. As we unfold the revolutionary dream of Jesus, we will see how our lives fit into the big picture of what God is doing in the world. Believe is a program for the whole family with teaching for adults, students, & children. Join us Sunday morning and start your journey with us.
On August 21st Arvada Christian will go on a journey to "the end of me." This four week campaign, created by Kyle Idleman (Southeast Christian Church), will challenge us to go to "the end of me" where Jesus is. Join us as we explore the upside down paths that lead us to Jesus. Featuring the true testimonies of author and spoken word artist Jefferson Bethke, NBA star Landry Fields, founder and director of Scarlet Hope Rachelle Star, and the former U.S. manager of Apple Records Ken Mansfield – this cinematic journey unpacks these counterintuitive truths of Jesus: YOU MUST BE BROKEN TO BE WHOLE. YOU MUST MOURN TO BE HAPPY. YOU MUST BE AUTHENTIC TO BE ACCEPTED. YOU MUST BE EMPTY TO BE FILLED. There is a beauty in coming to the end of ourselves as we realize that we aren’t strong enough, smart enough or talented enough to navigate life on our own. Ironically, that’s when we are in the best position to be used by God in significant ways. Are you ready to be used by God? Are you interested in a deep, authentic relationship with Jesus? The end of you is the beginning. Join us! For more information go to www.arvadachristian.org/the-end-of-me
Attention Arvada and surrounding areas: Arvada Christian's VBS 2016 is here! July 19 to 23 from 6 to 8:30pm. EASY REGISTRATION! Register your child online at http://www.arvadachristian.org/vbs_2016 and get a free t-shirt for your child when you do. Why is our VBS is different? Every day, our kids are challenged to stand for God in their schools, among their friends, in our culture . . . no matter what. And they’re bombarded with the lie that God’s Word isn’t true when it talks about earthly things (rocks, fossils), so it can’t be trusted to tell the truth about spiritual things. Noah experienced the same challenges during the time of the great Flood thousands of years ago. Yet, by God’s grace, he was able to Stand for God, Obey God, Trust God, Thank God, and Fear God . . . no matter what. The biggest watery catastrophe the world has ever known happened during his lifetime. But through it all, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. At Arvada Christian’s Ocean Commotion VBS program, your kids will dive deep into the account of Noah and the Flood from the book of Genesis! They’ll learn to apply the spiritual lessons from Noah’s life to their own. And, along the way, they’ll uncover earthly lessons from the Flood: how all the animals fit on the Ark, how the Flood covered the whole Earth, and how we can still see the effects of this Flood today. They’ll also learn that the flood legends from around the world are based on the true account in Genesis! Prepare for a boatload of excitement at Ocean Commotion, VBS for 2016!
Memorial Day 2016: We remember Jesus tells us in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Each year on Memorial Day we stop to remember the love of those servicemen and women who gave the ultimate price to keep us free. To pay the ultimate price is worthy of our remembrance and gratitude to God. It’s worthy of us to stop and say a prayer for those still in harms way across this globe who risk all that we might be safe. As for us, at Arvada Christian, we remember. We give honor and we give thanks to God for the sacrifice of so many in our military who paid the ultimate price. It was President Ronald Reagan who said, “It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who have died in defense of our country, in defense of us, in wars far away. Imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the founding fathers--gray and gray-haired. But most of them were boys when they died and they gave up two lives. The one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country for us. We owe them a debt we can never repay. All we can do is remember them: what they did and why they had to be buried for us.” This Memorial Day will you pause and remember? Will you say a “thank you” to God for this country and those who had to die to make her a reality? We may see all the problems facing us as a nation and the moral decline that surrounds us and wonder, “Is America great?” But it was the freedom bought with blood and life that allows this nation to move from God and that same price allows us to work to move her back to God again. Thank God for America! Thank God for those who gave all to make her what she is. We remember.
